Still on vacation. Encountering a lot of skunks. They would be awfully cute, if not for the whole anal stink glands thing. They are very hard to scare away- and of course you don’t want to startle them. I did some Wikipedia-ing on my phone (real camping, right?) and it turns out they are really reluctant to use their stink for defense- it takes them a long time to recharge. The staff at the camp we’re staying says they haven’t had a case of skunk attack in 10 years, despite the fact that the place is crawling with them. Now that I have a false sense of security, I actually like them. They’re like cats, but less rude. One young one walked right through my legs- apparently they have a strong sense of smell, but are extremely nearsighted. I wonder if it’s legal to keep them as pets in NYC?
Maybe if you get the stink glands removed? But I wouldn’t recommend it, they’re still wild animals, no matter how cute they may seem.
Absolutely I mean a domesticated one, but it’s just a fantasy. I don’t even want a dog right now. Too busy.
Sadly, no. It is illegal to have them as pets in NY.
They would have to be- otherwise the hipsters would all be walking them around Brooklyn.
I have those same exact shoes as Frankie. Mine are for my neuropathy. Sad Trombone.
My water shoes are hand-me-downs from my girlfriend’s 16 year old nephew, and they’re size 13. That kid is BIG.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. My girlfriend suggested Franky could take in the skunk as a pet, but he already has a dog that I’m neglecting story-wise.

I’ve known people that destinked skunks and kept them as pets. They’re really friendly when semi-domesticated. I even played with the little beast with no ill effects. Ahh the joys of living in the west and not in a major city.
