Khuan Tru is a London-based vector artist who specializes in portraits and fan art done in a bold style of airbrush and black strokes.

His site also features art tutorials, galleries, a blog, and interviews with concept artists, illustrators, photographers, and more.

He recently asked me some questions about Frankenstein Superstar, my art process, and my life. It’s very cool to be included with so many talented creators.

Please check out my Interview and the other great art & artists on his site! Thank you Khuan Tru!

Schooled!

This Fall and Spring I’m teaching two courses at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in beautiful downtown Dover, NJ. “Humor and Caricature” and “Digital Production”. I’m very excited and honored to be a part of an institution which gave rise to so many great talents in the comics industry. It’s also very inspirational to be around the talented faculty and ambitious students from around the country, and in some cases from other countries.

Happy FHTAGN! Birthday, H.P!

This weekend would have been Howard Phillip Lovecraft’s 121st birthday, and knowing what a party animal the guy was, I joined a wonderful group of well wishers and devotees at his graveside in beautiful Swan Point Cemetery in Lovecraft’s beloved city of Providence, Rhode Island for a celebration.

Young and old alike gathered to read poems and incantations, and local singer/songwriter Jacob Haller sang this awesome song, which I, as a father of a son and daughter who both went through a goth phase, find both heartwarming and hilarious. If you like it as much as I, please visit Jacob’s website or his Kickstarter campaign to pay for his next CD. As it is written in the Necronomicon, so let it be sang:

Franky goes Jersey Shore?!

Well, more like Franky’s AT the Jersey Shore. More specifically, I’m drawing the next strip at the beach in Manasquan, NJ. I’m not a beach guy, I HATE being out in the sunlight- and no, Frankenstein is NOT drawn by a vampire. He would totally hate that.

BLOOD! BLOOD!!

I am donating red blood cells. They take out blood, centrifuge it, keep the blood cells, and pump the plasma back in. No worse than a regular blood donation, except it takes longer.

A weird thing to blog about I bet, but blood donations save lives, so what the heck. Plus, you know, blood, monsters, it kinda fits the theme.
I have an especially needed blood type, O+, so they’re always after me like Vampires on Fairies (True Blood? Anyone?)
Also, in my defense, I am down two pints, so I’m probably not in my right mind.
All done! Time to eat free cookies. SO many free cookies.
